Back up your personal data with Network Attached Storage

When your computer hard disk suddendly goes haywire, several years' worth of documents, photos and videos could go down the drain.

This is why you should consider getting a Network Attached Storage or NAS drives at home to back up all your existing data.

Unlike a portable hard drive, an NAS drive is plugged into a home router and works almost like a standalone computer.

Availability of data has increased because access of data does not depend on a server so users can still read the data even when the application server is down. NAS can also improve performance as the NAS device only handles the delivery of data without other application processing.

Everyone at home can store their stuff on it.

Once used only for Bussiness corporation due to they cost about a few thousand dollars for each NAS drive, these devices have since become cheaper about $200 - and thus become more affordable for home users.

Transportation Tips

Would like to share this article that was being extracted from the Spring Magazine Jan/Feb 08 issue as follows :-

Transport
Feeling the pinch from increased cab fares and the rocketing price of petrol, but not
up for the daily squeeze on the bus?
Here's how to get to your destination with ease and comfort.

CAR SHARING
Owning a car can be very expensive, but here's an option where you can use one without
the high cost.Car-sharing - where a group of people share the use of a communal fleet
of cars - is an ideal choice if you do not drive everyday but would like to have access to a car when you need to.You only pay for what you use.
For more information you may visit NTUC Car CO-op and HondaDiracc.

RIDE THE BUS IN LUXURY TO WORK
Driving a car may be seen as a convenient choice, but with Singapore's efficient and
reliable public transport system, you're sometimes better off with the bus.
Especially with the premium bus services that have been launched.SBS launched 13 new premium services last October - two of them serving the North East - that run during the morning peak hourson weekdays to the CBD. Fees are $2.70 or $3.00 depending on
the distance.

RIDE FOR FREE
Make the most of the various free shuttle buses, such as those within the town area, instead of walking or taking a taxi. From City Hall MRT station, there are at
least five free services that will take you to various shopping centres like Laing
Court,Millenia Walk,Marina Square,Great World City and the Concourse.
From Compass Point, residents can also hop on a shuttle to Courts,Ikea and Giant at Tampines as well as to Parkway Parade at Marina Parade.

Utility Saving Tips

Would like to share the u/m Money-saving ways to survive the rising cost of living(Beating Inflation).

Below is an extracts being reflected on the Spring magazine – by Cheryl Shen as follows:-

Utility – One of the easiest ways to cut costs is to save electricity and water to cut down on those households bills – and in doing so, you can even play a part in saving the environment.

Households Appliances – Turn off all electrical appliances and power mains when not in use. Appliances continue to consume small amounts of energy even when they are ‘turned off’. It is estimated that standby power ranges from 10 – 15 watts, and sometimes more.

Time Your Cooling – Can’t do without that energy guzzling air-conditioner? Use the timer function and set it to turn off after a few hours.

Watt Savings – Another energy saver is to swap incandescent light bulbs to energy saving compact fluorescent bulbs which use 70% to 80% less energy.

Wash Wisely – There are lots of small things you can do, such as turning off the water when soaping in the shower and keeping bath-time down to 5 minutes.

Cook smart – It’s often cheaper to eat at home, but cooking too can suck up a lot of wasted energy in gas and electricity.Make sure that you choose the right size refrigerator for your family size, and where possible, buy an energy efficient brand.

Simple Making Money Tips

It is quite simple and easy to make some extra pocket money during your free time.

First of all, you just need to create a Blog or web site of your own.

You may open a blog account with Blogger or Yahoo Geocities etc to get started, and it is free!

After you have created your blog, you will need to write some nice articles and have it posted onto your blog.

Once your blog is up and ready, you may join the various PPC publishers such as Adsense or Bidvertiser etc and start to earn some money.

Learning Passion

Only follow through with what feels true to you, as long it does not bring harm to anyone
or anything.

Make sure your motive is pure, without being tied to an agenda or an outcome.

Honor what makes you unique, every part of you, and cease all negative criticism.

Tell the naysayers in your life nothing! When they ask how you are, simply reply, "Good, no complaints!"

Make your passion from the heart mission in life, and allow it to bloom, expand and unfold one moment at a time.

Remember that many people who create enormous contributions in our world have experienced great adversity. That adversity strengthens us, and it teaches us a lot.

Start right where you are, now, this moment, and express what inspires you. Then follow through just one moment at a time.

Make that a positive sign of your personal growth or achievement.

Most of all live it all out from your heart, because it brings joy to your heart.
That is what matters most, and that is the only way you can live a life with passion.
